A Comfort Tradition That Started in 1942
NAOT began in 1942 on Kibbutz Naot Mordechai in Israel, where members of a small collective farming community started making shoes. What began as a local workshop eventually grew into an international footwear brand known for handcrafted construction and its distinctive approach to comfort. Today, NAOT continues to make many of its shoes in Israel, keeping the brand's connection to its original craftsmanship and design philosophy.
The Footbed Is Where NAOT Feels Different
One of the defining features of NAOT footwear is its removable anatomical footbed, made from a blend of natural cork and latex and covered in suede. Rather than relying on a flat insole, the footbed is shaped to support the contours of the foot and gradually molds with wear. Many NAOT styles are also orthotic-friendly, making the removable footbed particularly useful for shoppers who need the option to customize their footwear.
Handcrafted Details, Not Just a Comfort Label
NAOT's approach goes beyond its footbed. The brand uses quality materials including Italian leathers on selected styles, while hand-sewn Strobel construction is used across several collections to create footwear that is flexible, durable, and comfortable to move in. Depending on the style, you will also find features such as padded heel cups, adjustable closures, shock-absorbing soles, slip-resistant outsoles, and lightweight construction.
Sandals With More Going On Underfoot
The NAOT collection is especially strong when it comes to sandals that look polished rather than purely functional. The Majorca pairs contrasting straps and stitching with a supportive backstrap and hook-and-loop closure, while its anatomical cork-and-latex footbed sits above a lightweight EVA sole. The Papaki offers another approach, with a padded front strap, heel cup, adjustable instep closure, and NAOT's removable footbed for a comfortable everyday fit.
Everyday Sneakers With NAOT Comfort
NAOT is not limited to sandals. The collection also includes modern sneakers designed to bring the brand's comfort features into everyday wardrobes. The Naot Co Collins uses contrasting leather, suede, and mesh details for a more contemporary look, while the Sunset combines a modern silhouette with a removable footbed, lightweight cushioning, and a slip-resistant sole. These styles work well when you want the practicality of a sneaker without moving away from NAOT's comfort-focused design.
A Collection That Covers More Than One Look
Current styles range from understated everyday colors to metallic finishes, textured patterns, and more distinctive seasonal designs. The collection includes options such as Dynasty Platinum Quartz Titanium for a dressier finish, Summer Stone for a softer neutral look, and Okahu Navy for a lightweight slip-on sneaker style. Because NAOT builds its comfort features into different silhouettes, you can choose a pair based on your wardrobe and the way you actually plan to wear it rather than settling for one generic comfort-shoe shape.
